Course Title: Ergonomics

Course Description: This course will discuss the leading causes and prevention measures
of muscular skeletal disorders such as: neck and shoulder aches, back and torso, the
physiology of the hand, inflamed tendons, maintaining neutral positions. The class will
also focus on fundamental ergonomics principles geared to reducing muscular skeletal
injuries, work habits that will improve the fit between their body mechanics and the job
activity. OSHA has been issuing industry specific guidelines in lieu of regulations.
Industries are expected to follow these guidelines and OSHA could use their general duty
clause 5(a) (1) to cite employers that fail to comply or address ergonomics in the workplace.
Method of instruction: Power Point Preservation, supplemented by: Audio/visual aids.
