Course Title: Forklift Operator Safety Training
Course Code: FOST Course Pre-Requisite: Must be able to operate a Forklift
Duration of Course: 8-Hours (4 hours classroom and 4hours performance)
Reference Number: 29 CFR 910.176 (I)
This course is an 8-hour course, which includes classroom and driving performance.
Participants must have previous forklift operating experience
Course content: The characteristics, operation and limitation of the vehicle.
The hazards due to the characteristic of the area where the lift truck will be operated and
the general safety rules that apply to all powered industrial trucks and their operations.
The course will also address: OSHA Standard; Pre-operational inspections; Attachments;
Basic driving, stability and loading; Types and characteristics of forklifts, Fuel and
Batteries, and other essential functions.
Refresher training is required if the operator is observed: operating the truck in an unsafe
manner, is involve in an accident or near miss, or if the operator is assigned a different
type of lift truck.
Method of instruction: Power Point Presentation supplemented by: Audio/Visual Aids.
